It was always yes

Remember that scene in Dil Chahta Hai when Aamir proposes to Priety literally at her engagement, got down on one knee and brought us all to tears with this dialogue: Shalini... Main tumse aur sirf tumse pyar karta hoon. Meri har sans, meri har dhadkan, meri har pal mein tum ho aur sirf tum ho Shalini.

Mujhe yakeen hai ki main sirf is liye janma hoon ... ki tumse pyar kar sakun ... tum sirf is liye, ki ek din meri ban jao. Tum meri ho, Shalini.

What about that time Shahrukh said it with city lights in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi? Or better yet, that dramatic almost angry monologue in Dil To Pagal Hai! Lets face it, if you've ever loved Bollywood then you've spent half your life dreaming of how, when and where your partner would Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.

I must have racked up some pretty good karma in my past life to have gotten the proposal that I did! Whisked away on a surprise trip on the morning of my birthday, finding ourselves in Rome with nothing else to do but wander, eat and be together... and on the last day (in Venice, no less!), a sunrise proposal on a sweetheart bridge overlooking a hidden canal.

He went as far as to set up his own GoPro and drone, to capture the moment from every angle. While the sentiment was incredibly romantic, it was also extremely practical- considering photogaphers in Venice quoted him along the lines of 850 euros to shoot this proposal!

I didn't expect that. Seriously. I underestimated this guy. I'd pretty much resigned myself to the fact that my proposal was most likely going to be over supper with my name written in chocolate. Not that that situation isn't romantic- just that it isn't me. I'm a little crazy, spontaneous, over the top, while Trushall is the level-headed, reasonable and sane pea in our pod.

In the end though, I'm glad I didn't expect much- because it made the pot at the end of that rainbow even brighter for me. And what a pot of gold it was :)

I guess what I'm trying to say here, for those individuals trying to drop those hints about rings, is chillax. Don't start creating a picture of some lavish uber amazing proposal in your head because, darling, I promise you that reality will always trump that. Whether it's a New York Times Square proposal or one over some burfee cake from Holi Cow while watching TV... Appreciate it for what it is. One moment when one person decided that you were their whole world.

Heck, I wouldn't change my proposal for all the jalebi in the world! But if he'd have asked me in his pjz at home, it would always be yes.

Think your Yes Moment can trump mine? Or (despite my advice) are you still dreaming of the perfect proposal, details et al? Comment below and tell me yours!
